The beautiful landlocked south-central African country of Zambia has some of Africa’s best wildlife and game reserves, and because the country is relatively undervisited compared to east Africa and South Africa, you can still have spectacular wildlife sightings all to yourself – a very special experience! Zambia’s fantastic reputation is helped along by a great safety record, and friendly and English-speaking local people with a positivity not easily seen elsewhere in south-central Africa.
The country has a tropical climate and consists mostly of high plateaus (average altitude of 1,200 metres (3,900 ft) above sea level) with a few mountains and hills, dissected by impressive river valleys. There are 14 ecosystems in Zambia, leading to a high number (over 12,000) of fauna and flora species being present in the country. This includes over 3,500 species of wild flowering plants, a total of 242 mammalian species, almost 800 bird species (Chaplin’s Barbet, White-chested Tinkerbird and Black-cheeked Lovebird are just three of the special species), and roughly 490 known fish species, not to mention the high numbers of amphibians and insects.
Our fantastic 14 day safari includes visiting the majestic and iconic Victoria Falls, as well as the two best parks that Zambia can offer in terms of stunning scenery, fantastic big game viewing, excellent birds and much more. These are Kafue and South Luangwa National Parks, and they are both right up there when it comes to top African wildlife reserves. Let’s go on a Zambian adventure!
