If Africaโs mysterious tropical forests captivate you, then our Central African Republic safari is designed for you. Spanning three countries, this vast region is home to sparsely populated Bantu tribes and nomadic Baโaka pygmies, offering a truly immersive experience for adventurers and wildlife enthusiasts.
Located in the northern Congo Basin, Dzanga-Sangha Reserve teems with remarkable wildlife: large populations of Forest Elephants, Lowland Gorillas, and 16 primate species, including the striking De Brazzaโs Monkey with its unique white beard. Birdwatchers will delight in the hundreds of bird species here, while the reserveโs reptiles and frogs enrich its biodiversity. Guests have the unique opportunity to visit a Baโaka pygmy village and even accompany them into the forest for a traditional hunt, gaining insight into their plant knowledge and forest lifestyle.

Our lodge works closely with the Baโaka on conservation efforts, particularly protecting pangolins and other small animals from the bushmeat trade. You will be shown several of their medicinal plants while the hunt goes along in the background. Their excited cheers will alert us if they do catch something.
Day 5: River Activities and Trekking. This morning, we will be heading upriver by boat to hike to a series of waterfalls in the area. These will take us through the best examples of prime rainforest that you would ever see. Apart from the amazingly beautiful waterfalls, you will see some of the most spectacular trees imaginable. Climbing to the top of the falls will provide vistas over the canopy of the forest. Look out for the extremely rare and endangered Grey-necked Rock fowl!
